We've made the switch to Electronic Medical Records
Starting September 12, 2011 we began using our new Electronic Medical Record system. This will help us to more effectively share information with other physicians, labs, pharmacies, and hospitals. This is just another example of our commitment to providing our patients the best care possible. Flu vaccine
A recent study published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology showed that patients with egg allergy can tolerate the influenza vaccine without special testing if the vaccine has less than 1 micro-gram of egg protein per milliliter. We have obtained a flu vaccine for our egg allergic patients which fits this description. The protocol for giving the vaccine includes a 30 minute observation period after getting a single injection, no skin tests are required. For patients with severe egg allergy, the vaccine can be split into two doses. This new method should allow any patient with egg allergy to safely receive the flu vaccine with minimal discomfort, a major improvement over previous protocol.
